SUNDAY - MONDAY 9th-10th MARCH KAWKAWA HEADING SOUTH TOWARDS HAMILTON VIA DARGAVILLE & RAGLAN

Saturday night we camped near Kawkawa where Fred worked a few ham friends on the radio 20 and 40 metres - I prepared a Salmon salad and Fred finished off with a Favourite Jam sandwich.
We had to find another place to stay as a person asked us to move as we were on a private parking area.
Mick ZL1HJ found us on the band to find out our location, we were pretty much on schedule.

Sunday we made our way South East Coast to Waipoua Forest were we stopped off to visit the Giant Kauri Trees at Tane Mahuta (Well I Did) then we travelled further onto Maropiu where Fred Cut down a bamboo pole for an extension to the portable antenna. We visited Helensville where we photographed a couple of cars then onwards to Dargaville,
Raglan was a pleasant seaside town with a lovely beach. We filled up with water, I left Fred to play radio and went off to find a bank and find a shop to buy some postcards. When I got back Fred was petting a white goat tethered on the side of a bank.
