F1 & F2 Heretige Meeting

Invited to race in the Celebrity Race

First person we met was Les Mitchell ex 238 he was there to drive the 231 car

I was invited to race the replica 59 Barry Shepherd Car, Barry is no longer with us

he lost his battle with the Big "C" last year.

                                                        Found the car in the pits  

                                 fancied my chances at having a good drive
                      in this well prepared car

                    Thought I'd better try and sit  in it, a bit of a struggle 

                                         

              Well that wasn't too bad - now to sort out the seat belts

                                         and Speedway Ace Gary Jackson

Finally broke through to near the front

Gary in his car in a different race to me his was a recent year to me..

This car I got tangled with and did not finish the second race.
This was a Eighty's which should not have been with the old cars.

Mechanics fueling up the cars - these 2 were very busy looking after my car as well

Mike Shirley in the old Ellis Ford car - thanks go to Mike to let me drive the old 47 Ford in  3 races.

A Pint in the bar after the meeting went down very well.

A big thank you to Gary Tresler for inviting to drive in the celebrity race in the Barry Shepherd Car.

Which wasn't to be - after Mike asked me to drive the old 47 Ford in the meeting with 3 races..

Gary asked me if I would give up my drive in the celebrity race to let another veteran driver John Plant drive my car because the car he was supposed to race hadn't turned up..

I readily let him have the race, because I  had the chance to race 3 races.

Although I would have loved to have had a drive in the Barry Shepherd Car it has some awesome power.

Perhaps I will get a chance next year who knows....
