Monday 10th - Wednesday 12th March at Mick ZL1HJ & Rita Te Kuiti - Shearing Capital of the World

We moved on from Raglan headed towards Te Kuiti to meet up with Mick ZL1HJ and wife Rita.
travelled on the Te Mata Road - Kawha Road - On to gravel road of the Raglan Road then headed south onto Highway 31 Contacted Mike KA1CU with Craig N4UOG and Larry N4MRM we were parked on a high spot near Te Kauri Park Scenic reserve  to pick up the Highway 3 on to Te Kuiti.
Te Kuiti is best known as the Sheep Shearing Capital of the world.

Arrived at Mick & Rita's kettle was on and cup of tea was soon
on the table. Sadly Rita had to go off  baby sitting their twin grandchildren.

After we had tea and few pleasantries :-) Fred and Mick went to Mick's radio room. Where Fred Closed his eyes.

We were shown our room for our stay 2 nights
In the garden the lemon trees were full of fruit, Fred tried the lemonade fruit

Tuesday Morning Mick took us sight seeing, before we left Mick had to fill the bath for the calves  water. Our first stop was Waitomo Glow Worm Caves

Our next visit was to a unique hotel site:









 









Tuesday evening Rita came back from her child minding and we sat and had an evening meal, the I emailed night before we contacted Steve ZL1ACE he quickly replied to say he had been  waiting for our call and was happy that we were very much up to schedule with our plans.
Wednesday Morning came all too quickly, We checked over the camper van and I collected all our stuff from the bedroom and bathroom ready to leave Mick & Rita.
Before we left we took a look at Mick's youngest son's Drag Car.
